As previously mentioned, painting a plastic floor is not at all easy because it’s very smooth surface makes it difficult for the paint to adhere. Therefore, to succeed in this operation, consider choosing an appropriate paint such as spray paints, special undercoats for plastic, or special paints for plastic.

Spray paints: Whatever type of plastic floor you have chosen as a covering, PVC or vinyl, you should know that it can be painted quickly with spray paints. Indeed, they can adhere to any plastic surface. For best results, be sure to handle the can properly. However, this type of paint also has some drawbacks. In fact, one unit of spray paint will not cover an area larger than 2 m². Therefore, the budget is quite high.

Special paints for plastic: Do you want to paint your plastic floor quickly? Special undercoats for plastic are appreciated for their efficiency and ease of use. By choosing this type of paint, you can expect a perfect result. Opt for special plastic paints, as their application does not require the application of an undercoat. In addition, they offer better adhesion and can cover a large surface.

How do you proceed to renovate your hard or plastic floor?

The first step is to prepare the floor by putting back missing pieces, repairing and gluing what can be repaired, and sometimes by leveling the floor. For plastic floors, we offer a bi-component to fill holes and repair joints. Then we apply a primer adapted to the nature of the floor. Then comes the application of PU Color itself, which is also a bi-component to be mixed just before use.

It is a product in aqueous phase, i.e., with water, without solvent. It is applied in two coats using a roller with 4 mm hair. Finally, one or two protective coats of transparent PU are applied. The latter exists in matte or glossy, in two thicknesses (20 or 40 microns when dry), and in ordinary or anti-slip. The anti-slip PU is very practical in a bathroom, for example, in the home of an elderly person or in any place where slipperiness must be monitored.

Tools and equipment needed to paint a plastic floor

The success of painting a plastic floor depends largely on how you paint the surface and the tools you use. To do this, you will need these tools: fine-grained sandpaper, a brush, a sponge, a pine resin lye, acetone, a rag, a roller, a brush, masking tape, a paint tray, and newspaper.
