The wave of Pottermania is still in full effect and it doesn’t look like it will be dying down any time soon. So, if either you or your child is a die-hard fan of the wizarding world, prepare your wands, oh sorry, I mean, your wallets, as we give you some amazing Harry Potter home décor ideas. I solemnly swear you are going to want everything on this list.
Harry Potter Wall Décor
Since we are talking about Harry Potter and his world full of magic, we cannot just go for simple wall décor. So, let’s allow our creativity and imagination to flow.
If I was a Potterhead (which I am) and had to decorate my house, I would go straight for the Marauder’s Map. You know, the magical document created by the Marauders (Remus Lupin, James Potter, Sirius Black and Peter Pettigrew) that subsequently allowed my beloved Harry to trace and monitor Draco Malfoy, that repulsive kid who always struts around with an air of superiority and flaunts his vast wealth, during his sixth year,.
I am sure the Marauder’s Map would be a gorgeous wall mural for any space in a home. And if you want to know who is sneaking out at night in the kitchen and eating all the chocolates, all you need to do is to recite “I solemnly swear that I am up to no good” and everything will be revealed to you. But, of course, don’t forget the “Mischief managed” at the end.
Another great idea for a wall décor is a Harry Potter quote wall decal. A wall decal is a sort of vinyl sticker that is fixed to a wall and in your place, I would choose a quote that either defines my personality and choices or one that I simply love.
Here are some examples of the quotes that I would choose:
“Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.”
― Albus Dumbledore
“Working hard is important. But there’s something that matters even more. Believing in yourself.”
― J.K. Rowling
“The ones that love us never really leave us. And you can always find them”
– Sirius Black
“We’ve all got both light and dark inside us. What matters is the part we choose to act on…that’s who we really are.”
– Sirius Black
Furthermore, you can choose a page from the Harry Potter books and stick it on your wall. Now, it’s up to you to choose your favourite page. I think I would opt for the scene when Harry speaks Parseltongue with the snake Draco conjured to attack him during a duel. Even if I didn’t understand one single word he said, the way he speaks is so captivating that I have put it on replay several times.
Platform 9 3/4 Poster
As any true fan of the Harry Potter series will know, Platform Nine and Three-Quarters is a magically concealed platform at King’s Cross Station where students of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry catch the Hogwarts Express. And I am still waiting for my letter and that day when I will also catch the train to Hogwarts.
But this poster is much more than just a cool piece of typography, it is a homage to the world of Harry Potter.
Deathly Hallows Mirror
“The Elder Wand,” he said, and he drew a straight vertical line on the parchment. “The Resurrection Stone,” he said, and he added a circle on top of the line. “The Cloak of Invisibility,” he finished, enclosing both line and circle in a triangle, to make the symbol that so intrigued Hermione. “Together,” he said, “the Deathly Hallows.”
— Xenophilius Lovegood
You can forget the address of your own home or the birthday of your spouse but it is inexcusable for a Harry Potter fan to forget three symbols of the Deathly Hallows. And including the Deathly Hallows mirror in any room of your house, most preferably the living room or your bedroom represents another chic homage to the Harry Potter series. And, as it is said, the one who possesses all the three artifacts would become the Master of Death.
